The Truth about real Mink lashes

3 Reasons Real Mink Lashes Are A NO-NO

1. Ethical Concerns - Let’s not harm the animals

At first glance, many people assume mink lashes involve directly killing animals for their fur, and historically, that assumption isn’t unfounded. Minks have long been bred and killed for the fur industry, with large-scale fur farming becoming widespread in the early 20th century. On these farms, minks are typically kept in confined cages and ultimately killed for their pelts, which has raised ongoing ethical concerns about animal welfare.

In response to this, some brands may claim their mink lashes are “ethically sourced,” suggesting the fur is collected from naturally shed or gently brushed hair instead. However, in reality, there is very little transparency in this process. Most minks are still raised in fur farm environments where the risk of cruelty is high.

This can also result in allergies and additional reasons why clients will have a reaction. An actual animal hair on someone’s eyes is more problematic than a synthetic fiber.

2. Poor Longevity and Performance

While real mink lashes are lightweight and soft, they are less durable than synthetic alternatives. Their curl can easily drop when exposed to moisture, steam, or heat from styling tools, which makes retention less predictable. Mink lashes also tend to be more fragile and prone to breaking or fraying during application, which can slow down your workflow.

Additionally, natural fur varies in thickness and taper, meaning some strands may not hold adhesive as well, leading to inconsistent retention. For professional artists, this unpredictability can affect both the look of the set and client satisfaction.

3. Hygiene and Consistency Issues

Because they are natural hair, mink lashes can vary in texture, thickness, and quality, making sanitation harder and results less predictable compared to synthetic lashes.

They can also be a source of allergies for some clients, which can cause irritation, redness, or discomfort.

Why Eye Create Lashes are BETTER

1. Our lashes are hand made and synthetic fibers

All of our lashes are 100% vegan and cruelty-free. While our lashes replicate the softness and natural look of mink, they are fully synthetic and crafted from high-quality PBT fibers. They are lightweight, long lasting, and consistent in quality, which makes them perfect for professional artists who want stunning, reliable results while keeping ethics and client safety a priority.

2. Our styling and Quality

The lash industry has a few different types of lashes that we use - Premade vs Handmade. Here’s the real difference: Lashes that are premade are pre-made at the factory. No customization, no control of thin/thickness, and the loss of integrity as you don’t know if the base was created with adhesive or a laser.

Hand mades - these lashes are made right for you at your appointment. What makes these lashes different are 3 things.

1. Customization - You want your lashes darker, we can create that. You want them fuller or fluffy? We create that!

2. Longevity and retention - When we hand make the fans we are working with a wet base, this allows us to wrap the fan around your natural lash. This can NOT be done with pre-mades as the base has already been sealed. Pre-made fans are simply placed on top, connected in one spot. Hand mades will wrap around your natural lash allowing for connection around the entire lash.

3. Hygiene Issues with pre-made fans

Because they are not made in studio, you are not privy to who made this fan and if there was proper sanitization in the environment they were made at. At Eye Create we take extra precautions and make sure our sanitization is kept up to par with Florida department standards. We will always take the best care of our clients.
